Trio of Women's Lacrosse Players Earn Northeast Conference Honors
Freshman Megan Szawlowski earns First Team and All-Rookie Honors
A trio of Central Connecticut women's lacrosse players earned postseason Northeast Conference honors on Thursday night. Freshman Megan Szawlowski and seniors Marissa Soto and Courtney McPartland were all honored for their play during the 2017 season.
Szawlowski was named to the All-NEC First Team in her first season with the Blue Devils. She led the team and was fifth in the NEC in scoring with 57 points on the season. Her 27 assists also led the Blue Devils and were second in the conference. She also finished second in the conference and led the team with 59 draw controls on the season.
Szawlowski's 57 points are tied for the third-highest total in school history, and just five points off the school record set by Tracey Uellendahl in 2003. She played and started in all 16 games and also scored 30 goals on the year, the second-highest total on the team. For her efforts she was also named to the All-Rookie Team.
Soto's senior season earned her Second Team All-NEC honors. She led the Blue Devils and was tied for the conference lead with a school-record 50 goals in 16 games this year. She added five assists and her 55 points were sixth in the NEC, and tied for the fifth-best total in school history.
Soto finished her career with 110 career points, the 10th best point total in school history.
McPartland was also chosen to the Second Team for her performance in her senior season. She was an All-Rookie Team selection in 2014 and a First Team All-NEC pick as a junior in 2016. She led the Blue Devils in caused turnovers (42), ground balls 48) and started and played in every game in her career (65 total) with the Blue Devils, the most in school history.
McPartland finished her career with 129 ground balls and 95 caused turnovers, both among the best totals in school history.
