Blue Devils are back in action on Mar. 25 at Hofstra
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped to 1-6 overall with a 12-7 on the road vs. LaSalle on Friday. The game was played at Saint Joseph's University due to field conditions on the LaSalle campus.
The Blue Devils will return to action next Saturday on the road at Hofstra.
After falling behind 1-0 in the game's first two minutes the Blue Devil offense responded in a big way. Central scored four of the game's next five goals and built a 4-2 lead with 19:19 to play in the first half.
Freshman Cameron Ruberti had two of those goals, both unassisted, while sophomore Jenna Henningsen and freshman Morgan Sinton each added a goal as the Blue Devils took their first lead of the game. The goal by Sinton was her fifth in the last three games, she now has eight goals on the season.
LaSalle would score four of the next five goals to take a 7-5 lead at halftime.
The Explorers opened the second half and scored three straight goals to push the lead to 10-5. Senior Jessica Giangarra, this week's Northeast Conference Player of the Week, cut the lead to 10-6 with her first goal of the game. The Explorers, however, scored three of the final four goals in the game to finish with the 12-7 win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Branthover made 11 saves in the loss for the Blue Devils. She now has posted 10 or more saves in a game five times this season, including three straight games.
The two goals from Ruberti push her season total to six goals on the season. Senior Marissa Soto scored twice to push her total to 17, good for the team lead.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday, March 25, on the road at Hofstra.
