Giangarra, Sinton Earn Weekly Northeast Conference Honors

Senior Jessica Giangarra and freshman Morgan Sinton were named the Northeast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday, it was announced by the conference office.

The pair of Blue Devils earned the honors after the Blue Devils posted their first victory of the season, 21-12, over visint Saint Mary's on Friday night.  The 21 goals was the most for the Blue Devils in a single game in three seasons, and just two off the school record.

Giangarra was an offensive star for Central Connecticut in the Blue Devils' 21-12 win over St Mary's on Friday. She scored six goals and added an assist to play a role in a third of the team's goals over the Gaels. Giangarra netted three of the team's first five markers to set the tone and added another tally to keep Central Connecticut ahead 9-6 at the half.

The six goals established a CCSU single-game season-high. She ranks second on the Blue Devils with nine tallies on the year.

Sinton becomes the second straight Central Connecticut player to be named NEC Rookie of the Week after Megan Szawlowski was honored last Monday. Sinton scored four goals and added two assists in CCSU's 21-12 rout of St. Mary's on Friday.

The freshman also collected three ground balls in the win. The Waldwick, NJ, native ranks fourth on the Blue Devils with seven goals this season.
