Blue Devils Picked Sixth in Preseason Lacrosse Coaches Poll
Blue Devils open the season on February 18th
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team was picked to finish sixth in a poll of the league's head coaches, it was announced on Wednesday. The Blue Devils are scheduled to open the season on February 18 vs. Quinnipiac, the game will be played at Yale's Reese stadium.
The Blue Devils are under the direction of first year head coach Princess Livingston. Livingston came to CCSU after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Villanova.
Bryant was picked to finish first, followed by Wagner, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart and Mount St. Mary's. CCSU was fifth, followed by St. Francis U and then LIU Brooklyn.
The Blue Devils finished 2-5 in conference play last season with wins over Robert Morris and St. Francis U.
Central will be led by leading returning scorer junior Kylie Sullivan who had 10 goals and 18 assists as a sophomore. Senior Courtney McPartland, a First Team All-NEC pick a year ago, and Second Team All-NEC selection Kelsey Murphy will anchor the defense.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Branthover, a Second Team All-NEC pick and an All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, returns in goal for the Blue Devils. She made 135 saves in her first season in New Britain.
