Siena Tops Women's Lax in Home Opener
Blue Devils will host Brown on Sunday at 12 noon
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team fell to 1-2 overall on the season with a 20-5 loss in their home opener to Siena on Friday afternoon. With the victory the Saints improve to 1-3 overall on the season.
Senior Brigit Hogan led the offense for the Blue Devils with a pair of goals in the game. Freshman Kylie Sullivan, sophomore Alexandra Hooker and junior Falynn McCartney each scored once. McCartney and Hooker also added an assist for the Blue Devils.
Siena led 12-3 at the half and scored seven of the game's first eight goals. They stretched their lead to 19-3 after scoring the first seven goals of the second half.
Erin Moosep led the Saints with seven goals in the game. Lauren Smith added four while Shannon O'Connor and Alyssa Treanor each had three.
Central's senior goalkeeper Morgan Tullar made nine saves in the loss. Siena's Danielle DeLisio made eight saves in the first half to earn the win. Ashley Holdridge had three second half saves for the Saints.
The Blue Devils held a 16-11 edge in draw controls in the game. Siena held a 32-21 advantage in shots, including 29-16 in shots on goal.
The Blue Devils will play again at home on Sunday at 12 noon hosting Brown on Arute Field.
