Women's Golf Ties for Fifth at Hartford Women's Invitational
McLean and Gutierrez tied for 13th place overall
Freshman Meghan McLean and senior Cecy Gutierrez shot a round one score of 76 and sit in a tie for 13th place leading the Blue Devils to a team score of 312 and a tie for fifth place after the first round of the Hartford Women's Invitational on Saturday. Fairleigh Dickinson leads the pack with a score of 298. The tournament is being played at Tumblebrook Country Club in Bloomfield, CT.
The tournament was shortened to one round due to the weather on Sunday.
Sacred Heart is in second with a score of 299, followed by Dartmouth (307), Boston University (309), CCSU and Albany at 312, Hartford (313) Yale (316), Holy Cross (345) and then Fairfield (356).
McLean and Gutierrez each shot 76 in the first round to lead CCSU. Freshman Olivia Gardenhour shot a round one score of 79 and is tied for 23rd place overall. Freshman Alexa Brown shot 81 and is tied for 32nd place. Senior Tara Whelan is tied for 39th place after shooting an 83.
Playing as an individual, freshman Roxanne Garceau shot an 85 and is tied for 49th place overall.
