Women's Golf Tied for Seventh at Navy Spring Invitational
McLean leads CCSU with day one score of 83
Freshman Meghan McLean shot a day one score of 83 to tie for 14th place overall and the Central Connecticut women's golf team sits in a tie for seventh place after the first day of the Navy Spring Invitational on Friday. Day two of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday, if the weather allows. If not, the tournament will be completed on Sunday. The tournament is being played at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, MD.
The Blue Devils shot 344 as a team on day one, and sit in a tie for seventh place with Bucknell. Yale leads the tournament with a score of 316, followed by Towson, Quinnipiac, Navy, Lehigh and then Monmouth.
McLean's round of 83 is good for a tie for 14th place overall. Senior Tara Whelan is tied for 19th place with a score of 84. Freshman Alexa Brown shot 88, followed by freshman Olivia Gardenhour (89) and senior Cecy Gutierrez (90). Freshman Roxanne Garceau, playing as an individual in the tournament, shot 101 on Friday.
The second round is scheduled for Saturday and will begin with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.
