Senior Cecy Gutierrez finished in 30th place overall with a two round total of 165 (+21) to pace the Central Connecticut women's golf team to a 10th place finish at the Lonnie Barton Invitational on Tuesday. Gutierrez followed up her first round score of 81 with an 84 on Tuesday to lead the Blue Devils.
Central shot a team score of 335 on Tuesday, one stroke better than Monday's score. They finshed with a two-day total of 671. Fairleigh Dickinson won the event, followed by North Carolina A&T, Sacred Heart, Bethune-Cookman and then Evansville.
Senior Tara Whelan fired an 83-86 (169) to place 37th. Freshman Alexa Brown was just two strokes behind, finishing with a score of 82-89 (171). Freshman Olivia Gardenhour scored 90-82 (172) and placed 42nd.
The Blue Devils are back in action at the Kingsmill Invitational at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA, on March 19-20.
