CCSU Women's Golf Tops Fairfield in Dual Match on Wednesday
Cecy Gutierrez leads the way with a score of 78
The Central Connecticut women's golf team posted a 328-345 dual match victory over Fairfield University on Wednesday afternoon. The match was held at Tashua Knolls Country Club in Trumbull, CT.
Senior Cecy Gutierrez led the Blue Devils with a round of 78 (+6) on the par-72 course. Fairfield's Madison Banas posted the top individual round of the day with a score of 76. After that is was all Blue Devils on scoreboard as five CCSU players finished tied for at least fifth place.
Freshman Meghan McLean shot a score of 80, followed by classmate Roxanne Garceau, who played as an individual, who shot 82. Freshman Olivia Gardenhour and senior Tara Whelan each shot 85 to pace CCSU.
Freshman Alexa Brown fired an 87 for CCSU in the match.
Central is back in action on Oct. 15-16 when they travel to Seekonk, MA, to play in the Brown Invitational. They'll finish their fall season at the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 22-23.
