Abrahamova Named NEC Women's Golf Rookie of the Year
Freshman led the Blue Devils with a third place finish at the NEC Championships
Freshman Kristyna Abrahamova was named the Northeast Conference women's golf Rookie of the Year on Wednesday. She was also one of five golfers named to the All-NEC First Team, after finishing her rookie campaign with the Blue Devils with a third place finish at the NEC Championships in April.
Abrahamova was terrific all championship weekend for the Blue Devils, shooting rounds of 77-72-72 to finish with a score of 221, just three shots behind the leaders. Her third round score was the third best overall score in the entire field on Sunday, the final day of the championships.
She finished her season with five top-10 finishes, including a season-best third place finish at the NEC Championships.
She also finished tied for 17th place at the Navy Spring Invitational with rounds of 85-78. She finished first amoung all CCSU golfers.
She tied for 13th at the Wagner Invitational this spring with rounds of 79-78. She was second among CCSU golfers, joining senior Ella Williams in the top-15.
In the fall she tied for sixth at the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational with scores of 83 and 79. She also tied for 12th at the Quinnipiac Classic with scores of 83-84-78.
Abrahamova tied for fifth place at the Fall Dartmouth Invitational with rounds of 75-74. She also posted a top-10 finish at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational in September with scored of 79-74. Her 74 on the second day was the second best score in the entire field in the second round.
She began her collegiate career with the Blue Devils with scored of 78-73 in the Navy Fall Invitational and finished in fourth place. Her 73 in round two was the best score of the day and the second best round in the entire tournament.
