Women's Golf in Fourth After First Round at Seton Hall Pirate Invitational
The final round tees off on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 9:00 a.m.
The Central Connecticut women's golf team finished opening round play at the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational at Trump National in Bedminster, NJ, in fourth-place out of 14 teams. Freshman Kristyna Abrahamova is tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard after the first round.
The first round of the tournament was played in temperatures in the 40's and with winds reaching 25 miles per hour.
Abrahamova is tied with three other golfers after shooting an 83 in the first round. She is just five shots back of the leader, Megan Mingo of South Dakota State.
Junior Cecy Gutierrez is just two strokes back of her teammate and tied for ninth after shooting an 85 to open the weekend. Classmate Tara Whelan shot an 88 in the opening round and is tied for 21st.
Seniors Kaitlyn Stoddart and Ella Williams both shot an 89 in the opening round and rounded out the Blue Devils' golfers.
CCSU shot 345 as a team in the first round. South Dakota State sits atop the team leaderboard after the first round, having shot 326 as a team.
