Women's Golf Drops to Fifth Place After Round Two at NEC Championships
Senior Sarah Boden in tied for seventh place overall
The Central Connecticut women's golf team dropped one spot and sits in fifth place overall after the second of three rounds at the Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday. The Blue Devils, who shot a first round score of 329, improved two strokes and shot 327 on Saturday, but sit three shots back of fourth place St. Francis University.
The Championship is being held at the LPGA International, Hills Course in Daytona Beach, FL.
Central's two round score of 656 is good for fifth place, three strokes back of fourth place and just 11 shots back of third place Wagner. Fairleigh Dickinson (626) leads the field, followed by Sacred Heart (628) just two strokes behind.
Senior Sarah Boden is tied for seventh place overall after leading the Blue Devils with a second round score of 78, three strokes better than her first round score. Her score of 159 is just seven strokes off the tournament leader.
Junior Ella Williams also shot a 78 on Saturday and sits alone in 13th place. Her two round score is 162.
Sophomore Cecy Gutierrez shot 83 on Saturday, one stroke higher than Friday's first round, and she sits at 165, in a tie for 16th place overall.
Junior Kaitlyn Stoddart shot an 89 on Saturday, giving her a two round total of 171, putting her in 23rd place. Sophomore Tara Whelan shot 88 and is in a tie for 28th place overall with a score of 175.
The tournament will conclue on Sunday, with the first group going off at 7:40 a.m.
