Blue Devils Travel to LIU for a Thursday Night Matchup

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team travels to Brooklyn on Thursday night for an important northeast conference matchup with LIU.

The Blue Devils and Sharks will meet for the second time this season. Central fell to LIU back on January 25th at the Detrick Gym where The Blue Devils suffered a 57-50 loss. 

OPENING NOTES

• Central Connecticut (7-19, 5-8) is back on the road to face The LIU Sharks (7-20, 4-10). The Blue Devils fell to top-seeded Sacred Heart in their last game on Saturday afternoon, 73-55.

• Head coach Way Veney is in her first season at the helm of the Blue Devils.
• The Sharks are coming off a 70-65 overtime win vs Wagner on Saturday afternoon.
• CCSU is at Stonehill on Saturday, March 2nd for their last regular season road game before they finish off the season home vs FDU.

WITH A WIN...

• The Blue Devils would improve to 6-8 in the NEC, they currently stand in 5th behind FDU (8-5), with three games left.
• Would beat LIU for the second year in a row on the road (60-43, 1/19/23).
• Central Connecticut would clinch a playoff berth in the Northeast Conference Tournament.

NOTABLES:

• Williams had a hot hand from the field last week, shooting 64.3 percent from the floor (9-of-14) and 66.6 percent from behind the arc (4-of-6) to average 14.0 points and 2.5 assists in Central Connecticut's 1-1 week. The junior guard tallied 15 points in Thursday's 69-61 win over Wagner before she added 14 more points to her count on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, including a 3-of-4 clip from long range, on Saturday against first-place Sacred Heart.
• Samora Watson leads the Blue Devils with 17.4 points per game and 5.8 rebounds.
• Alonna Sellers dropped 13 points in their win over Wagner, she also scored 12 points in the loss vs Sacred Heart. Sellers has been close to a breakout game, but has not quite reached her full scoring potential.
