Women's Basketball Plays Host to Colgate for 'Kids Day Out' on Monday Morning

The Central Connecticut State University Women's Basketball team will welcome nearly 1,200 local area school kids to Detrick Gymnasium when they take on Colgate for the Kids Day Out contest on Monday at 11 am. 

"We are looking forward to hosting the local elementary school kids at the Detrick Gym," said Mike Ericksen, Associate Director of Athletics, "and we are excited to be able to give them a fun experience that will hopefully turn them into Blue Devil fans!"

OPENING NOTES

• Central and Colgate are meeting for the third time and the Raiders are making their second trip to Detrick Gymnasium.

• Head Coach Way Veney continues her first season at the helm of the Blue Devils.

• This season, Colgate is the only Patriot League team on Central's non-conference schedule.

• CCSU will have another early matchup at Penn State on Wednesday morning followed by a week break before playing at Morgan State Jan 3-day break from gameplay before returning home to host Colgate on Dec. 18th for the 'Kids Day Out' game at 11:00 am.

WITH A CCSU WIN...

• The Blue Devils would defeat Colgate for the third time in their history and remain undefeated against the Raiders all time. 
• Central Connecticut would collect its second win at home.

NOTABLES

• The Blue Devils are in the top 5 in the circuit in six statistical categories. They are first in opponent three-point FG percentage and land second in turnover margin and FT percentage.
• Samora Watson leads the team and is second in the NEC in scoring with 15.6 points per game. She is second on the team in rebounding with 3.8 per game and leads the team in FG percentage (.426). 
• Belle Lanpher is right behind Watson averaging 13.5 points per game good enough for fourth in the conference.
