OPENING NOTES

  • Central Connecticut defeated UMass Lowell Tuesday night for the team's first victory of the season.

  • The win marked Coach Way's first as the Blue Devils head coach. 

  • The Blue Devils are 2nd in the league in scoring offense (54.4ppg), Free throw pct. (.706) and opponent 3-point FG pct. (.261). 

  • Amaya Williams was part in sealing the win going 7-8 from the line in the last 0:51 seconds of the game on Tuesday night vs UMass Lowell.

  • Belle Lanpher has taken six charges in the last two games for CCSU.

WITH A CCSU WIN ...

  • CCSU would beat the Stags for the first time since 1998 (11/16/98, 71-82 @ CCSU).

  • CCSU would record two wins in November for the first time since the 2014-15 season (4-2 in the month of November; wins vs Hofstra, UMass Lowell, Vermont, New Hampshire). 

  • The Blue Devils would record back-to-back wins for the first time since February of last season.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • The Blue Devils average 54.4ppg (second in the NEC behind SHU) and give up 67.0ppg (58.5 not including the Syracuse game) landing them at 3rd in the league in scoring margin (-12.6).

  • Samora Watson, a transfer from East Carolina, and Belle Lanpher each average 14.2 points a game and are the top scorers in the Northeast Conference.  

  • The Blue Devils are first in the league in turnover margin (+4.80), they average 21.6 forced turnovers a game (1st in NEC; 43rd in NCAA). They rank fourth in steals (8.40) and second in free throw percentage (0.71). 

  • Belle Lanpher scored a season-high 20 points and shot 67 percent from the field (6-9) vs Bryant. Lanpher leads the NEC in scoring with 14.2ppg. She was selected to the preseason All-NEC first team this year. 

  • Samora Watson is tied for first in the NEC in scoring (14.2ppg) and leads the league in FG pct., shooting .403 from the field. She was a rebound away from a double double vs Manhattan and dropped 18 points shooting .500 from the field for a career-high vs Saint Peters.
