Women's Basketball Falls Short After Third Quarter Rally Against Merrimack

KEY MOMENTS   

• The Warriors hit the ground running, going on a 10-0 run to kick off the first.  

• The Blue Devils got on the board with a three-pointer from Emma Bruen, but Merrimack continued to dominate, retaliating with back-to-back layups. 

• CCSU attempted to find their stride, but the Warriors continued to build their lead. They held Central to 5-17 from the floor in the first quarter, building a 14-point lead. 

• The Warriors had a 20-point lead, their largest of the game, two minutes into Q2 after a layup from Lydia Melashenko.  

• The Blue Devils began to kicked things into gear went on a 13-3 run from this point. Buckets from Tatiana Brown, Belle Lanpher, Amaya Williams, and Alli Napoli trimmed Merrimack's lead to 10. 

• The Warriors were able to score two more points before the buzzer, going into the half with a 12-point lead. 

• Central came alive in Q3, going on a 16-5 run.  

• Rohkohl opened the quarter with a layup, followed by two Lanpher free throws, to build the Blue Devils' momentum.  

• Amaya Staton sunk a layup for the Warriors, attempting to regain control of the game, but Meghan Kenefick clapped back with a jumper to keep CCSU alive. 

• Buckets from Dejah Jenkins, Forever Toppin, and Rohkohl brough the Blue Devils withing striking distance. 

• With 3:17 left to play in the third, Kenefick sunk a shot from behind the arc to give the Blue Devils first lead of the game, 48-47. 

• The teams traded baskets from the remaining minutes, at one point tying things up, 50-50.  

• Merrimack was able to end the quarter with a layup, making it a one-point game (52-51) going into Q4. 

• The Warriors were the first to get on the board in the fourth with a layup from Diamond Christian.  

• Lanpher hit a three to tie the game for the second time, 54-54. 

• The teams would take turns evening the score four more times throughout the quarter. 

• Rohkohl hit a layup to tie the game for the final time, 67-67, with :27 to play. 

• Christian sunk a buzzer beating layup for the Warriors to win, 69-67.

• Lanpher led the Blue Devils with a season high of 18 points. Rohkohl also scored in double figures, tallying 15 points. 

• Rohkohl led CCSU on the boards with nine rebounds, six offensive. 

• The Blue Devils scored 21 points in the third quarter, and now have 20 or more points in eight quarters this season. 

• Brown had a career high of four points in her eight minutes of playing time. 

• Four Merrimack players finished in double figures, with 19 from both Diamond Christian and Kaylee Thomas.
