Women's Basketball Falls 81-52 at the Mount.

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell 81-49 on the road against Mount St. Mary's. CCSU led for a total of 59 seconds in the entire game.The Blue Devils move to 2-3 on the season and 2-3 in NEC play. Mount St. Mary's improves to 4-1 in the conference and 5-3 overall.

Seniors Emma McCamus and Angelique Rodriguez led the way for the Blue Devils, each contributing 9 points. Ashley Forker added 6 points and a team high 8 rebounds as well.

The Blue Devils shot just 19-61 from the floor (31.1%) and allowed the Mountaineers to shoot 36-72 as a team (50.0%).

Junior Michaela Harrison scored a season high 16 points for Mount St. Mary's. Kayla Agentowicz also scored in double figures, adding 11 points on 5-6 shooting. Ten different players saw the floor for the Mount, and each player scored at least 2 points in the ball game.

The Blue Devils have yet to win consecutive games this season.

KEY MOMENTS 

• The Blue Devils got off to a slow start, scoring just 2 points in the first five minutes of the game.The team committed 7 turnovers in the first quarter, which led to 6 points for the Mount. Ashley Forker kept the team in the game, scoring 6 of the team's 13 points. Aryna Taylor flew by the CCSU defense to give the Mount a 21-13 at the end of the first.

• Both teams were able to score with ease in the second quarter. Mount St. Mary's took a quick 16 point lead early, but CCSU was able to respond with a 14-2 run to bring it within single digits. Angelique Rodriguez knocked down 3 three-pointers in the quarter, a career high with the Blue Devils.

• Emma McCamus missed a quick shot with 24 seconds remaining in the half, which led to a layup for Mount St. Mary's at the final seconds to give the Mountaineers a 46-34 lead.

• Carly Reynolds scored on a nice post move with 5:55 left in the third quarter to cut the lead to single digits. The Mount responded right away with an and one from Michaela Harrison. 

• A turnover by Lanpher with 1:00 left in the third led to a breakaway layup to give the Mount a 64-44 lead. The Blue Devils shot just 3-17 (18.8%) from the floor in the third quarter and committed 6 costly turnovers.

• The Mount opened up the final quarter on a 11-0 run, extending its lead to 77-44.

• CCSU did not score in the fourth until the 3:28 mark as Forever Toppin made a layup plus the foul.

NUMBER TO KNOW

20 – The Blue Devils committed 20 total turnovers as a team, a new season high. This led to 25 points off the turnovers for Mount St. Mary's.

NOTES 

• Angelique Rodriguez scored a career high with the Blue Devils, with 9 points all coming from beyond the three point line.

• No players scored in double figures for CCSU, which is the first time that has happened this year.

• CCSU only had 5 steals in the game, while Mount St. Mary's had 16.

• Freshman Belle Lanpher added 7 points on 2-5 shooting and went a perfect 3-3 from the foul line.

• After a solid 50.0% shooting as a team in the second quarter, the Blue Devils shot just 3-17 from the floor in the third (17.6%).

• CCSU was outrebounded 43-36 in the game and now move to 0-3 when being outrebounded by their opponent. The Mount also had 9 offensive rebounds which led to 9 second chance points.

• Mount St. Mary's scored 52 points in the paint, which was 64.1% of their total scoring.

• Senior Ashley Berube missed today's game with an injury. She is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.0 ppg.
