Central Honors Seniors Prior to 75-54 Win Over Terriers in Season Finale
CCSU closed the season win back-to-back wins.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team closed the 2019-2020 season with a 75-54 win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday night. It was the first time this season the Blue Devils won back-to-back contests.
The game started off close with CCSU holding an eight-point lead at the half, but a third quarter surge extended the lead to 19, too much for the Terriers to overcome.
Junior Ashley Berube led the Blue Devils with her third double-double of the season, posting 11 points and 11 rebounds. After being honored for their last time in the Central uniform, seniors Bruna Vila Artigues, Ashley Chin and Taylor Goode combined for 18 points.
Central closes the year at 4-25 overall and 3-15 in conference play.

KEY MOMENTS
- Both teams got off to a slow start offensively. With 3:34 left to play in the opening quarter, the game was tied 7-7 with five points coming from Artigues and Chin.
- The teams continued to trade baskets to open the second, but Central closed the quarter on a 7-3 run to take a 30-22 lead at the half. Juniors Emma McCamus and Berube combined for 11 of 17 second quarter points for CCSU.
- In six minutes played in the second quarter, Berube shot a perfect 3-3 from the floor, including draining a triple along with grabbing four rebounds and blocking three shots.
- Central extended its lead 50-31 with a 20-9 run in the third. Goode stole the ball and scored in transition followed by a three by Artigues on the following possession. Tiffany Slicklein had a steal of her own and completed an old-fashion three-point play on the other end.
- The Blue Devils did not let up in the final quarter going on a 17-8 run keeping the lead to over 20 points with under five minutes to play. Danielle Delano had two triples in the quarter for Central.
