Toppin Nets Career High, Central Tops LIU 71-57
Forever Toppin led the Blue Devils with a career-high 18 points.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team snapped an eight-game skid with a 71-57 win over the LIU Sharks on Monday night inside Detrick Gymnasium. Sophomore Forever Toppin led the Blue Devils with a career-high 18 points off 7-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 2-3 from behind the arc. Senior Ashley Chin scored 11 points and juniors Emma McCamus and Ashley Berube each had 10 a piece.
The team shot just under 50 percent from the floor sinking 27 of its 55 shots (.491). From three-point range, Central connected on 6-of-13 (.462) triples.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Sharks got out to an early 8-4 lead. Toppin knocked down the first triple of the game to cut the lead to one with 4:32 to play in the first.
- LIU scored six straight points before Central responded with buckets from Bruna Vila Artigues and Ashley Chin to close out the first quarter. CCSU shot 6-for-12 (.500) in the opening 10 minutes.
- A 9-4 run by the Blue Devils, with five points coming from Berube, gave CCSU a 23-20 lead midway through the second quarter. The Blue Devils scored 22 points in the quarter, shooting 8-15 (.533) from the floor, including 3-6 (.500) from behind the arc.
- Central opened the fourth sinking 4 of its first 5 shots going on an 8-1 run to take a 58-52 lead with 5:25 left to play in the game. After the Sharks scored five points, CCSU responded with eight straight points of its own with triples by Toppin and McCamus.
- With 3:07 left on the clock, the Blue Devils held a 66-57 lead. In the closing minutes the Sharks went 0-7 from the floor and Central secured the game with free throws.
