Women's Basketball Downed by Fairleigh Dickinson, 63-55

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 63-55 on Monday night inside Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils cut the lead to two with 7:49 to play, but a 12-2 run by the Knights pushed the lead back to double-digits. Junior Emma McCamus led all scorers with 25 points shooting 50 percent (8-16) from the floor and 7-8 (.875) from the foul line. Classmate Ashley Forker was the only other Blue Devil to hit double-figures with 13.

KEY MOMENTS

• Central took an early 11-8 lead with six points coming from junior Emma McCamus.
• McCamus drilled a three just as time expired to give CCSU a slight 16-15 lead at the end of the first. McCamus was perfect on offense in the first 10 minutes of play with nine points going 2-2 from the floor and 4-4 from the foul line.
• The Blue Devils went on a 7-0 run to open the second with baskets by McCamus and Dejah Jenkins. Central held the Knights scoreless for the first four minutes of the quarter. The Knights responded with five straight points to cut the lead to 23-20 with 5:20 left to play until halftime.
• FDU closed the second quarter with a 14-5 run to lead 34-28 at the halftime break. Central shot 42.9 percent in the first half with McCamus leading the way with 18 points.
• The Blue Devils came out of the halftime break with a 6-0 run. The Knights responded with an 11-1 run with five straight points scored by Lauren Francillon to push the lead to 10 with 4:46 left to play in the third.
• Central went on a 7-0 to cut the lead to three. The Knights scored just two points in the final 4:49 of the third quarter and lead 47-42 heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
• The Blue Devils cut the lead to two, 47-45, with 7:49 to play, but a 12-2 run by the Knights pushed the lead back to double-digits.

NOTES

• McCamus finished with a game-high 25 points. This is the second time shes scored 20+ points in a game this season.
• Forker totaled 13 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. 
• CCSU scored 13 points of 16 turnovers by the Knights.
