Central Welcomes Saint Francis U Saturday
Women's basketball looks to earn its first NEC win over the Red Flash.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team searches for its first conference victory against Saint Francis U on Saturday, Jan. 4 inside Detrick Gymnasium for its Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer game. The women's basketball team will wear gold shoelaces to support the Go4theGoal Foundation and the fight against cancer. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. followed by the men's game at 3:30 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
The Blue Devils recently fell to Robert Morris on Thursday night led by juniors Emma McCamus (13 pts, 4 stl) and Ashley Berube (12 pts, 4 rbs). Central continued to shoot well from the foul line going 23-28 (.821) against the Colonials. Eight players are shooting over 75 percent from the foul line and as a team CCSU has a .779 free throw percentage.

Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer • The Go4theGoal Foundation was founded in 2006 and its mission is to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing financial support, developing and implementing unique hospital programs, funding innovative research, and granting personal wishes. Last Time Out • The Blue Devils fell to Robert Morris 86-56 in its conference opener on Thursday night. The team trailed by eight after the first 10 minutes of play, but the Colonials dominated inside scoring 48 points in the paint on the game.
Series History with the Red Flash • This is the 45th meeting between the Blue Devils and Red Flash. SFU leads the overall series 31-13. CCSU beat SFU last year in New Britain 73-62 and lost by just three points (86-83) in Loretto, PA.
Most Recent for SFU • SFU defeated Bryant 63-60 in its NEC opener to earn its third win of the season. Karson Swagger led the Red Flash with 25 points. The Red Flash held a nine point lead with 3:33 to play and survived a late 6-0 run by Bryant to secure the win.
With a Win... • Central would earn its second win of the season and its first win in conference play...CCSU would give SFU its 10th loss of the season...The Blue Devils would move to 1-1 in league play.
