Women's Basketball Challenges Mount St. Mary's Monday
Both teams are looking for its first Northeast Conference win of the season.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team challenges the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on Monday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m inside Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, MD. The Blue Devils had four players score in double-figures and 39 points from the bench but fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 74-67 on Saturday. Central and the Mount are both looking for their first Northeast Conference win of the season.

Most Recently for MSM • Bryant erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter and came away with a 73-68 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday. The Mount left 62-48 with 7:45 left in the contest but the Bulldogs rallied back and tied the game 64-64 with 2:49 remaining and would hold on to take the win. The Mount shot 37.5 percent from the field making 9-of-24 from deep. Michaela Harrison led the Mountaineers with 15 points.
Last Year vs. the Moutaineers • In Central's 2017-18 NEC season opener against The Mount it dropped a 68-56 decision in New Britain. In the last matchup between the two teams on Feb. 29, 2018, the Mount snapped Central's four game winning streak with a 76-56 win in Emmitsburg. The Mount made 9-of-23 three pointers and led by double-figures for 36:53 of the contest. Central would out-score Mount 14-11 in the final 10 minutes of action while forcing seven turnovers, but it wasn't enough to create comeback as time ran out.
By the Numbers • The Mount averages 67.7 ppg led by Juliette Lawless who averages 18.1 ppg. The team shoots 68.3 percent from the foul line and is grabbing 13.7 offensive rebounds per game against NEC opponents. Central is averaging 63.7 ppg since conference play with 15.6 ppg from Kiana Patterson. Sophomore center Ashley Berube is currently shooting .471 percent from the field and has recorded two games with five blocks.
Series History • This is the 30th meeting between the Blue Devils and Mountaineers. The Mount holds a 27-12 advantage in the overall series. Central has only won one game in the last five contests between Mount St. Mary's.
