Women's Basketball Welcomes Wagner for NEC Home Opener
Central beat Wagner in both contests last season.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team is at home for the first time in the new year hosting Wagner at 7 p.m. inside Detrick Gymnasium on Monday, Jan. 7. Wagner is currently 2-10 on the season and 0-1 in league play. CCSU is 3-8 overall also 0-1 in the NEC. The game will be streamed live and will be archived on www.NECFrontRow.com.

Last Time Out • In Central's first Northeast Conference game of the season, CCSU fell to Sacred Heart 66-61. Central fell as much as 13 and cut the lead to five with 1:07 remaining, but was not able to overcome the Pioneers. Kiana Patterson led the Blue Devils with 18 points and five rebounds, and Ashley Berube was one rebound shy of a double-double posting 12 points, nine rebounds, and matched her career-high five blocks. Ashley Forker had a season-high 11 points, along with five rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Katherine Haines finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds for SHU.
The Seahawks • Wagner fell to St. Francis Brooklyn 76-71 in its NEC opener on Saturday. The team went on a 15-6 run during the first three minutes of the third quarter to cut the lead to five, but did not have enough to over power the Terrier offense. Khaleah Edwards finished with 14 points and Taylah Simmons finished with 12 points for the Seahawks.
Series History • Tonight marks the 44th meeting between the two teams with CCSU holding a 28-15 advantage in the overall series. Last season, Central swept Wagner in both contests with a 59-56 home win and 66-64 win in Staten Island.
