Women's Basketball Challenges the Seahawks on Saturday
The Blue Devils seek their fourth straight victory on Saturday at Wagner.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team travels to Staten Island, NY on a three-game winning streak to face the Wagner Seahawks on Saturday, February 10. The Blue Devils have won the last three contests against Wagner, including a 59-56 victory earlier this season in New Britain, CT on New Year's Eve.
The Blue Devils sit at 5-7 in the conference in sixth place with six regular season games remaining.

LAST TIME OUT • A strong fourth quarter comeback and excellent free throw shooting carried the Central Connecticut women's basketball team to its third straight win on Saturday over the visiting Bryant Bulldogs, 66-59. The Blue Devils held Bryant to just 3-of-15 (.200) from the field in the game's final quarter as Central went 7-for-12 (.583) and out-scored the Bulldogs 22-10. Junior Andi Lydon paced Central with her second double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The Blue Devils were clutch from the foul line, making 20-of-21 (.921).
MOST RECENTLY FOR WAGNER • The Seahawks dropped two road games to Sacred Heart (61-49) and FDU (62-61) last weekend. Wagner led for three quarters of its game against Fairleigh Dickinson, but was put-away with on a jump-shot with 32 seconds left to play. Wagner outshot FDU 51 percent to 41.1 percent, and held the advantage in points in the paint (42-30), points off turnovers (21-18) and fast-break points (12-2).
SERIES HISTORY • Saturday's meeting inside of the Spiro Sports Center marks the 43rd alltime meeting between Central and Wagner. The Blue Devils hold a 27-15 edge in the overall and have won the last three contests, last falling to Wagner on Feb. 20, 2016 (64-63) on a last second shot.
THE FIRST MATCH • After senior co-captain Brianna Jacobs knocked down a pair of free throws to give the Blue Devils a 55-53 lead with 4:31 left in Central Connecticut women's basketball's New Year's Eve showdown against Wagner, CCSU maintained its lead en route to earning its first victory of the season 59-56 over the Seahawks. Junior Andi Lydon with 16 points and shot 60.0 percent (9-of 15) from three-point range as a team including four from the junior.
FROM DEEP • CCSU ranks third in the NEC in threepoint field goals made (171) and threes made per game (7.4). On the flipside, CCSU ranks 33rd nationally and first in the NEC in three-point field goal defense, holding teams to just 28.3 percentage from deep.
