Blue Devils Welcome Wagner for New Year's Eve Contest
Women's basketball will tip off against the Seahawks at 1:00 p.m.

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team hosts Staten Island's, Wagner, on New Year's Eve for a 1:00 p.m. start. The Blue Devils (0-1) in NEC play will look to hand the Seahawks (1-0) their first conference loss after they last topped Bryant 75-66 on Friday.

Last Time Out • CCSU erased what was a 12-point second quarter deficit to regain the lead late in the third but was unable to hang on in a 68-56 Northeast Conference opening defeat against Mount St. Mary's on Friday night. Junior Denisha Gardener snagged a season-best 11 rebounds whlie adding seven points and three assists in the contest. Central out-rebounded the Mountaineers 45-41 including 21 offensive boards.
Scouting the Seahawks • Following a four player double figure scoring performance at Bryant, Wagner is led by fifth-year senior Sierra Clark in nearly every category. Clark ranks first in blocked shots (2.18) and double-doubles (5), as well as second in points (16.6) and rebounds per game (8.2) in the NEC.
MJ For Three • All of graduate student Morgan Johnson's 13 field goals in the past six games have come from behind the arc. MJ is 13-for-20 from downtown, shooting 65.0 percent including ten trifecta's in CCSU's last five games.
Series History • The Blue Devils hold a 26-15 advantage in the all-time series record with the Wagner Seahawks. CCSU swept Wagner 2-0 last season with a 66-53 victory at home and an 83-71 win in Staten Island, NY.
