Patterson to Represent Women's Basketball at Barclays Center
The annual NEC Basketball "Social" Media Day will take place on Wednesday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m.
Central Connecticut women's basketball junior guard, Kiana Patterson, will be accompanying 11th year head coach Beryl Piper to represent the Blue Devils at the 2017 Northeast Conference "Social" Media Day at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn NY. The sixth edition of the NEC basketball season launch event will take place on Wednesday, October 25 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Last season Patterson averaged 11.2 points per contest as the team's second leading scorer and started in all 31 contests for the Blue Devils. The Troy, NY product broke the program's all-time record for the most single-season three-pointers, sinking 71 triples as a sophomore. She also converted 38.6 percentage of all field goals including a 35.0 effort from downtown.
Fans can follow media day through an interactive experience on all social media platforms using the hashtag #NECinNYC. Followers can also watch live on both NEC Front Row and ESPN3 featuring league commentators Dave Popkin, Tim Capstraw and Craig D'Amico as hosts of the telecast.
The interactive nature of NEC "Social" Media Day will begin well in advance of October 25. The NEC will begin the countdown to Barclays Center a week prior to the event on the league's various social media platforms. Fans can also tweet questions in advance for NEC coaches and players to @NECsports or by using the hashtag #NECinNYC. NEC Director of Social Media Ralph Ventre will engage fans during the telecast with the best tweets displayed on air. The most active and compelling tweeters will also have the opportunity to win NEC prize packs.
Patterson alongside senior forward, Brianna Jacobs, were deemed 2017-18 women's basketball team captains prior to the start of official practice on October 1. The women's basketball team will face off with West Virginia and the University of Virginia in its season-opening road trip on Nov. 10 & 12.
