Epps Earns All-Northeast Conference Second Team Honor
Senior guard, Aleah Epps, was named to the 2016-17 All-NEC Second Team as announced Friday afternoon.
Senior Aleah Epps of the Central Connecticut women's basketball team was honored with a 2016-17 postseason award by the Northeast Conference as announced on Friday afternoon via Twitter by the league front office. Epps was tabbed to the All-NEC Second Team for the senior's accomplishments in her final season as a Blue Devil.
Epps led the team in scoring this season, with 11.4 points per game, in route to the All-NEC Second Team honor. She dished out a total of 106 assists, including 75 against conference opponents, averaging 4.31 per game, ranking her third in the NEC. Epps accumulated a team-high 35 steals, and sank the most free throws for CCSU, making 91-of-119 (76.5%).
The senior sits amongst the top-four conference players in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.14). She also totaled 163 rebounds, and shot a collective 38.4% from the floor this season. Epps posted four double-doubles, and distributed a season-best seven assists against Sacred Heart on Jan. 7 at home. The 5'5" guard from Bowie, Maryland began the 2016-17 season pulling down a collegiate high 15 rebounds at Dartmouth, and also scored 19 points.
Epps tallied 332 total points for Central this season, including a top-mark of 22 points at LIU Brooklyn on Jan. 17.
