Sacred Heart Welcomes Women's Basketball On Saturday
Central women's basketball plays at Sacred Heart on Saturday
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team travel down to Fairfield, CT to take on Sacred Heart at 1:00 p.m. inside the William H. Pitt Center. Saturday's game will be broadcasted on 1400 WSTC Radio, and will be in honor of the the Pioneers' four seniors.
Previously, the Blue Devils snapped Wagner's two-game winning streak Monday night, 83-71, on the road in Staten Island. The Pioneers were last upset at FDU, 58-56, on a go-ahead lay up at the buzzer. CCSU sophomore Kiana Patterson and SHU redshirt-sophomore Katherine Haines, both scored a career high 22 points last timeout.

GAME NOTES | Blue Devils | Pioneers
Series History (11-27) • Saturday's matchup marks the 39th meeting between CCSU and Sacred Heart. The Blue Devils topped SHU earlier this year in New Britain on Jan. 7, 67-50, handings the Pioneers their first conference loss. Senior Aleah Epps notched a double-double with 15 pts./11 rebs., and Hanies also tallied 15 points for Sacred Heart. Last season Central came up short in both meetings with its fellow Connecticut foe, falling 61-57 in double-overtime at home, and 71-69 again, on the road.
Last Timeout • Sophomore Kiana Patterson drained a career high 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including four three-pointers, and 12 fourth quarter points that carried CCSU to the victory. Central went to the foul line 34 times, making 28 of its attempts (82.4%) compared to the Seahawks' 8-for-14 effort from the stripe. Central out-rebounded Wagner 32-24, led by sophomore Andi Lydon who had eight boards.
Rebounding Margin • Sacred Heart currently ranks 9th (second-to-last) in the conference in rebounding margin, getting topped by an average of 6.5 boards a game. CCSU stands in second place in the category, out-muscling its opponents with +1.5 rebounds a game.
Rejected by Reynoso • Senior Giocelis Reynoso sent back a career high five of Saint Francis' shots which ties her for fourth all-time for most blocked shots in a single-game. The NEC's second ranked shot-blocker (1.7 bpg) and rebounder (8.7 rpg) , brings her season blocked shots total to 38, surpassing Keisha Carmichael ('89-90) and Kirsten Daamen ('09-10) for ninth place in most blocked shots in a single season.
KEY with the THREE • Second year Blue Devil Kiana Patterson, has proven to be CCSU's key three-point threat, draining 52-of-146 (35.6%). Patterson's six three's at St. Francis Brooklyn on Dec. 31, tied her for third all-time for most single-game three-pointers. The sophomore has climbed her way into a fourth place tie with Emily Rose ('07-'08) for the most single-season three-pointers with 52 now on the year.
