Bryant Visits Women's Basketball for Alumni Day Game on Saturday
Central Connecticut and Bryant are both in search of snapping a two-game losing streak heading into Saturday's contest.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team welcome the Bryant Bulldogs on Saturday, January 28 to Detrick Gymnasium for a 1:00 p.m. tip.The Blue Devils are (4-4) all-time against Bryant on their home court. There will be a halftime ceremony at the men's basketball game against LIU Brooklyn proceeding the women's to honor CCSU Alumni and Bobbie Koplowitz.

Series History (7-9) • Saturday afternoon marks the 17th meeting between CCSU and Bryant, with Central entering the match two games behind in the all-time series. Last season Bryant swept the Blue Devils an average margin of 13 points. The Bulldogs last stole a victory away from Central at home, 65-53, and defended their own home turf topping the New Britain squad, 70-56.
Battling the Bulldogs • Senior forward, Alex Klein, leads Bryant and ranks fourth overall in scoring, draining 16.8 ppg. against NEC opponents. Klein is also averaging 9.0 reboundsper game and shooting 44.0% from the field. As a unit, the Bulldogs are out-rebounding teams by a margin of +4.4 boards.
Previously For Both Teams • Both teams look to snap a two-game losing streak, after falling to Robert Morris and Saint Francis last weekend. Central was dealt its first conference loss at SFU on Saturday (1/21), 87-81, and then fell short to the Colonials on Monday (1/23), 55-46. The Bulldogs were most recently topped by the Red Flash, 79-67, and to Robert Morris, 62-46, on the road.
Last Time Out • Despite getting dominated on the glass, 42-29, the Colonials took advantage of the Blue Devils 26 turnovers, topping them, 55-46. Senior Aleah Epps and sophomore Andi Lydon recorded double-doubles for CCSU, with Epps tallying a game-high 18 points/10 rebounds, and Lydon notching 10 points/10 rebounds.
Lydon Lights It Up • Sophomore Andi Lydon is coming off a 29-point career high performance at Saint Francis U where she shot an impressive 75.0% (9-12) from the floor. Lydon currently ranks first in the league in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 66.7% on 14-of-21. She also falls in second place in rebounding average with 9.1 per contest.
Rejected by Reynoso • Senior Giocelis Reynoso sent back a career high five of Saint Francis' shots which ties her for fourth all-time for most blocked shots in a single-game. Reynoso brings her season blocked shots total to 34, just three away from tying Keisha Carmichael ('89-90) and Kirsten Daamen ('09-10) for most blocked shots in a single season.
KEY-Ana • Second year Blue Devil Kiana Patterson, has proven to be CCSU's key three-point threat against NEC opponents, draining 19-of-29 (38.8%). Patterson's six three's at St. Francis Brooklyn on Dec. 31, tied her for third all-time for most single-game three-pointers. The sophomore is only five triples behind her fifth place mark in the record books for most three's made in a season, 48 ('15-16).
Up Next For CCSU • The NEC's second ranked Central Connecticut women's basketball team will begin the conference cycle all over again with a Monday night date with LIU Brooklyn at home at 7:00 p.m. The Blue Devils got the best of the Blackbirds back on January 16 at LIU, 76-71.
