The last two unbeaten teams in the Northeast Conference, Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart, are schedule to compete for the number one spot in the league on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 1:00 p.m inside Detrick Gymnasium. CCSU will next play host Mount St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9.

Previously For Both Teams • The Blue Devils most recently took down St. Francis Brooklyn on Dec. 31, 61-53, and sealed a victory in their conference home-opener over Wagner, 66-53, last Thursday, Dec. 29. Sophomore Kiana Patterson led CCSU, scoring 17.0 points per game. Sacred Heart opened conference play with two home wins against Robert Morris (69-59), and St. Francis U (73-63).
Series History (10-27) • The Pioneers hold a 17 game advantage in their all-time series with Central. Last season the Blue Devils came up short in both meetings with their fellow Connecticut foe, falling, 61-57 in double-overtime at home, and, 79-69, on the road.
Last Timeout • The Central Connecticut women's basketball team took down the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn, 61-53, on Saturday, Dec. 31. The Blue Devils connected on eight three-pointers, on 40.0% shooting, six of them coming from sophomore Kiana Patterson who sank a career high 20 points. CCSU shot a season best 89.5% from the charity stripe, making 17 out of 19 of its attempts. Senior Aleah Epps distributed a season best six assists, added 13 points, six rebounds, and four steals in the win.
A Peek at the Pioneers • Red-shirt senior Hannah Kimmel is shooting 44.8% from the floor, including 46.2% from behind the arc, averaging 18.0 points, and 8.5 rebounds per contest. Red-shirt sophomore, Katherine Haines, is pulling down 14.0 rebounds in conference play. As a whole, Sacred Heart is shooting 43.9% from the field and 38.6% from three against NEC opponents thus far.
