The Central Connecticut women's basketball team hits the hardwood again on Friday night, Nov. 18, for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the Catamounts of Vermont. The Blue Devils are 0-2 after falling to Hartford on Wednesday night, 68-58. Vermont travels to New Britain with an overall record of, 1-1, after topping Dartmouth 59-54.

Today • The Central Connecticut women's basketball team hosts the Vermont Catamounts in its second straight contest against an America East opponent. The Blue Devils are 0-2, after falling to Hartford, Wednesday night in their home-opener. Vermont travels to New Britain for its first away game of the season with an overall record of 1-1, coming off a victory over Dartmouth on their home floor. The two teams most recently met last season on Nov. 13th, at Vermont.
Series History • Today's game marks the 18th meeting all-time between these two programs at the Division I level. The Catamounts hold a 9-8 advantage in the series, and Head Coach Beryl Piper is 3-1 against Vermont. Before last year's loss, the Blue Devils topped Vermont for three straight meetings. Last season, Central lost to Vermont in its 2015-16 season-opener, 79-63, in Burlington, VT. In 2014, CCSU won in dramatic fashion, 77-75, in overtime. CCSU won 82-68 in Vermont in 2013-14 and 67-41 at home during the 2012-13 season.
It's a New Day • Vermont welcomes new Head Coach Chris Day to the Catamounts, as well as a fresh staff of assistants. Day comes to Vermont from Penn (2013-16) where he was the Quakers assistant coach. At Penn, he helped his program to a 67-21 (.761) record in three seasons, highlighting two trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Scouting Vermont • The Blue Devils will pay special attention to Vermont's two returners, Sydney Smith and Kristina White, who lead the Catamounts in scoring with 11.9 and 11.5 points, respectively. Sophomore Candace Wright is snagging 7.0 rebounds and 9.5 points per game in her second collegiate season. Vermont has proven to be a threat from beyond the arc, making 16-43 (.372) in two games.
Last Timeout • The Blue Devils fell to the Hartford Hawks in their home-opener, Wednesday night, 68-58. CCSU outrebounded the Hawks by a margin of 13 (49-36), led by sophomore Andi Lydon, and senior Giocelis Reynoso, who notched career-highs on the glass, grabbing 15 and 13, respectively.Central was limited to 29.5% (18-61) shooting from the floor, including a 21.1% (4-19) effort from behind the arc, while Hartford shot 38.5% (25-65) from the field, and only converting on 4-16 attempts from downtown. In addition to Lydon's 15 boards, she also contributed 14 points, and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
CCSU vs. America East • Tonight's game also marks the second of three games this season against an AE opponent through for the Blue Devils. CCSU previously lost to local rival, Hartford, 68-58, on Wednesday at home. They opened the 2015-16 campaign with a 79-63 loss at Vermont, followed by a win against UMass Lowell, and losses to UHart and New Hampshire. Central has a Dec. 11 date scheduled in Detrick Gymnasium, with their final America East opponent, Stony Brook, set to tip-off at 2 p.m.
Up Next For CCSU • Central will travel to Massachusetts on Wednesday, Novermber 23, to take on the Minutemen at 2 p.m. Last year, the Blue Devils won in an overtime thriller against UMass, 78-68, on Dec. 12th.
