Epps Tabbed NEC Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week
Junior point guard Aleah Epps was named the NEC Co-Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after she sunk a career-high 24 points in a win over UMass on Saturday in New Britain.
Junior Aleah Epps of the Central Connecticut women's basketball team was named the NEC Co-Player of the Week by the league front office on Monday afternoon after Epps led the Blue Devils to a 78-68 overtime victory over Massachusetts on Saturday. She eclipsed the 20-point mark for the first time in her career dropping a career-high 24 to earn the nod for NEC Player of the Week, an honor that is also a first for Epps in her career.
Epps was extremely efficient from the floor shooting 50.0% (5-10), including 75.0% (3-4) from beyond the arc to help lead Central to their second win of the season (2-7). Her final trifecta of the game inflated CCSU's lead to 68-64 with 1:50 remaining in overtime and UMass would get no closer the rest of the way.
The Bowie, MD product also hit 11-of-12 attempts from the free throw line, including five-of-six in the final minute of overtime to seal the game for the Blue Devils. Logging 39 minutes, the junior point guard also accounted for three rebounds, three steals and four assists to only one turnover.
Epps and the Blue Devils return to action next with a road contest at Fordham on Sunday, Dec. 20. It marks a rematch with the Rams who topped the Blue Devils last season, 70-67, in the first round of the WNIT. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m inside Rose Hill Gym.
