Freshman Camden Musgrave was tabbed the Corvias ECAC Division I New England Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) on Tuesday afternoon. Musgrave, who also picked up her third NEC Rookie of the Week award this season earlier today, earns her first ECAC honor of her career. The rookie averaged 18 points per game in week eight of NEC play to help lead the Blue Devils to two key victories over NEC opponents at home and regain a share of first place in the NEC standings.
Musgrave and CCSU got back on track, snapping a two game losing streak, with a 70-58 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday and a 72-59 victory over Saint Francis U on Monday night. Musgrave was terrific shooting the basketball once again for the Blue Devils and was unconscious from behind the arc on the weekend. The Bowie, MD sharpshooter finished the two games shooting 10-of-17 (58.8%) from the field, including hitting on 7-of-12 (58.3%) of her attempts from distance. She also connected on nine-of-10 (90.0%) free throw attempts on the week and did all of this in 25.5 minutes per game off the bench for CCSU.
On Saturday against Sacred Heart, Musgrave netted a game-high 20 points. It marked the second time this season the rookie has logged a 20-point game. She was five-of-10 from the field, including three-of-six from distance and connected on seven-of-eight free throw attempts. On Monday against the Red Flash, Musgrave finished with 16 points on five-of-seven shooting from the floor and buried four-of-six three point attempts that were crucial in a CCSU come-from-behind victory. She was also a perfect two-of-two from the line in the game. On the week, Musgrave also chipped in 2.5 assists per game.
The Blue Devils will complete their regular season schedule next weekend with two games on the road. They will first travel to play Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday at 2 p.m. and then face-off against Bryant on Monday at 7 p.m.
