The Central Connecticut women's basketball team hosts defending Patriot League Champion Army at Detrick Gym on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. The Blue Devils (4-5) are looking to snap a three-game losing streak, while playing their second of three straight games against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season. The Black Knights enter today's game with a 6-2 record on the season.
Series History • This is just the sixth meeting between CCSU and Army as Division I institutions. Army has won all five meetings and also won a 1983 contest when CCSU was a Division II institution. The last meeting came during the 2007-08 season with Army winning 59-54. That 2007-08 contest is Beryl Piper's only time facing the Black Knights as the head coach of the Blue Devils.
Three Straight Against NCAA Tournament Teams • CCSU's game against Fordham started a stretch of three straight games against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season. Fordham and Army both earned automatic bids by winning a conference championship and Syracuse - and ACC program - earned an at-large berth.
