The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Siena on Wednesday night at the Alumni Recreation Center. The Blue Devils fall to 1-2 on the season with the 79-57 loss. Siena improves to 2-0.
Junior Nicole Ferguson led the Blue Devils with a career-high 12 points. She connected on four three pointers in the game, including a three-for-five shooting performance in the first half.
Siena was led by 23 points from Tehresa Coles. The Saints shot 53.1% from the floor in the game and were 75% from behind the arc, but on just eight attempts.
The Blue Devils shot 33.9% from the field and 33.3% from deep. CCSU also struggled at the free throw line connecting on just 44.4% (8-of-18).
The Blue Devils went to the half trailing 41-32 and were unable to get closer than an eight-point deficit in the second half. Siena would lead by as many as 27 points in the period and led by no fewer than 16 points over the final 9:39 of the game.
CCSU scored the opening basket of the game, but Siena quickly tied the score and then took the lead with 17:33 left in the first. The Saints would lead for the remainder of the game.
Senior Amanda Harrington had 10 points and five rebounds in the game.
The Saints dominated scoring in the paint with a 34-16 advantage. Siena also had 21 points at the free throw line.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday at UMass Lowell. CCSU will follow that with a home game on Tuesday, Nov. 25 against Vermont.
