Women's Basketball Opens Practice

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team officially opened practice for the 2014-15 season on Sunday evening at Detrick Gymnasium. It was the first practice for the Blue Devil squad which opens its regular season on Nov. 14 at Hofstra.

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team officially opened practice for the 2014-15 season on Sunday evening at Detrick Gymnasium.  It was the first practice for the Blue Devil squad which opens its regular season on Nov. 14 at Hofstra.  The home opener is scheduled for November 17 and will feature the Blue Devils hosting intrastate rival Hartford at Detrick Gym.

The Blue Devils will play five non-conference home games and six on the road over the first two months of the season.  CCSU will also have a full slate of Northeast Conference games come January.

The 2014-15 season is the eighth for the Blue Devils under head coach Beryl Piper.  The Central Connecticut alumna is the winningest women's basketball coach of CCSU's Division I era and has led CCSU to double-digit wins in six straight seasons.

The NEC will unofficially kick off its 2014-15 season with the annual Social Media Day on October 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.  The event will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com and will feature coaches and players from around the NEC.
