Bio

Pat Holden will begin his ninth year as assistant coach of the Central Connecticut softball team in 2024. While on the staff at Central, he has helped develop six All-Northeast Conference First Team honorees, seven Second Team honorees, and six All-Rookie Team selections.

The 2021 season was highlighted by Kaitlin Paterson being named the NEC Golden Glove award winner, Paige Stringer being named NEC Rookie of the Year and Holden being part of the Coaching Staff of the Year. Paterson and Stringer were both named All-NEC First Team, while Carli Backlund and Rian Eigenmann were named to the Second Team. Stringer, Kate Houghton, Anaya Hunte, and Kaylee Whittaker all earned All-Rookie Team honors. The Blue Devils led the circuit in slugging percentage and in home runs while ranking 24th nationally in home runs per game and 30th in doubles per game.

Holden graduated from Central Connecticut in 2004 where he played four seasons on the baseball team. As a player, he won three NEC Championships in 2002, 2003, and 2004 when CCSU broke the school record for most wins in a single season (41) and winning percentage (.703). Holden posted a combined playing record of 136-79-3 and spent one season as a volunteer coach under the command of current head coach Charlie Hickey in 2005.

In high school at St. Margaret's, Holden remains the school record holder for batting average in a season (.672) and on the mound, he set the mark for career strikeouts (401).

Holden lives in Plainville, CT, with his wife, Cathy, and daughter and son.
