Softball Drops Midweek at UAlbany on Thursday

GAME INFORMATION 

SCORE: CCSU 2, UA 8 

LOCATION: Albany, NY | UAlbany Softball Field 

RECORDS: CCSU (24-15) (11-10 NEC), UAlbany (24-11) (9-5 NEC) 

KEY MOMENTS:  

TOP 2ND: Adrianna Manory singled, and Emma Henry walked to load the bases for The Blue Devils. Reagan Vunak drew a walk to bring home Manory and Central took an early 1-0 lead. 

BOTTOM 2ND: The Great Danes got two back on two hits and an error that gave them a 2-1 lead. 

BOTTOM 4TH: UAlbany graduate senior Caitlyn Mitros hit a bases-clearing double that extended The Great Dane lead to four (5-1). They tallied another run in the inning to lead Central 6-1 after four innings of play. All runs scored in this inning were unearned.  

BOTTOM 5TH: In a first and third situation with two outs Central opted to get the out when a UAlbany runner stole second and got into a pickle. CCSU sacrificed a run and UAlbany led 7-to-1 going into the sixth. 

BOTTOM 6TH: Pinch hitter Victoria Vilarchao hit a deep fly ball to right center that found its way over the fence to give the Great Danes an 8-to-1 advantage.  

TOP 7TH: The Blue Devils fought back in the final frame and loaded the bases for Skyler Warn with two outs. Warn reached first on an error by the second baseman to chip into the Danes lead (8-2). UAlbany was able to get out of the jam and secure the 8-2 victory over CCSU. 

NOTES: 

• The Great Danes lead the all-time series 3-to-8 with The Blue Devils' last victory coming on March 30th, 2021, in Albany.
