Softball Unleashes for 20 Runs and Captures Two Wins Over Le Moyne
The Central Connecticut softball team secured their 15th win after taking two from Le Moyne on Friday in Syracuse.
Kaylee Whittaker (8-4) earned her eighth win of the season. She went the distance for The Blue Devils and allowed just three hits and no runs. Ava Cino recorded all but one RBI of The Blue Devils runs in game one. She recorded three hits including a double and a home run. Stringer plated the sixth run for Central.
Laura Bennett (4-10) suffered her tenth loss of the season. She allowed ten hits and six runs in 6.2 innings of work for The Dolphins.
Adrianna Green (2-2) earned her second win of the season. She relived Whittaker and gave up just one earned run on seven hits. Paige Stringer, Grace Lawton, Brooke Fedison, and Ava Cino combined for 12 RBIs in game two.

KEY MOMENTS – GAME ONE
TOP 1ST: Reagan Vunak worked a walk and Ava Cino hit a two out double to score Vunak and that gave Central an early 1-0 lead.
TOP 6TH: Paige Stringer beat out an infield single to lead off the inning. Ava Cino followed with a two-run blast to center field, putting The Blue Devils up 3-0.
TOP 7TH: Brooke Fedison, Gorman singled and Vunak moved the runners to second and third with a groundout to second base. Paige Stringer singled to plate both runners and Cino followed with a single that scored Stringer from second to extend Centrals lead to 6-0 going into the final half inning.
BOTTOM 7TH: CCSU starting pitcher Kaylee Whittaker recorded the first two outs of the inning. Audrey Benderski doubled to keep The Dolphins alive. Frankie Larobardiere singled to center field and Meg Gorman through a seed from center field to get the runner at home and secure the complete game shutout for Whittaker.
KEY MOMENTS – GAME TWO
TOP 1ST: Meg Gorman walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Paige Stringer nearly beat out an infield single, Gorman sped around the bases to score, and The Blue Devils led 1-0.
BOTTOM 1ST: The Dolphins answered in the bottom half of the inning with one run off three hits, leaving two on base.
TOP 2ND: The Blue Devils scored three runs on three hits and an error from the Dolphins. Brooke Fedison doubled to score Grace Lawton and Jasmine Lasane who also doubled. Meg Gorman brought home Fedison and the Blue Devils took a 4-1 lead.
BOTTOM 2ND: Le Moyne answered with six runs on five hits and no errors leaving one runner left on base as they took a 7-4 lead.
TOP 4TH: Kristina Bozek singled, Fedison worked a walk, and Meg Gorman was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Vunak. She worked a walk with the bases loaded to cut Lemoyne's led to 7-5. Stringer hit a sac fly to bring home Gorman (7-6). Grace Lawton stepped in the box with two outs and hit a bases-clearing double to erase The Dolphin lead and put CCSU on top 9-7.
TOP 6TH: Ava Cino hit her second home run of the day off the scoreboard in right field and gave Central an 11-7 lead.
BOTTOM 6TH: The Dolphins got three back to be within one of The Blue Devils (11-10) on three hits and three unearned runs.
TOP 7TH: Like a good neighbor Brooke Fedison was there with an early insurance run and a solo blast that gave her team a 12-10 lead. Vunak singled and Stringer followed up with a no-doubter over the left-field fence for CCSUs 14th run.
BOTTOM 7TH: After leading off with a double The Le Moyne Dolphins were retired in order by freshman hurler Adrianna Green.
NUMBERS TO KNOW:
14 – The Blue Devils scored 14 runs for the first time since April 14th, 2021, vs Sacred Heart.
100 - Meg Gorman notched the 100th hit of her career in game one.
NOTES
This was the first matchup between Central and Le Moyne after joining the NEC this year. Central now leads the all-time series 2-0.
