Softball Drops Pair of Games Saturday
The Blue Devils close out the weekend against Creighton on Sunday.
The Central Connecticut softball team dropped two games on Saturday at the Tenn State Tiger Classic in Nashville, TN. The Blue Devils fell to Bowling Green in extra innings in the first game, before losing to Tennessee State in the night cap.
CCSU closes out the weekend against Creighton at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
GAME ONE
Score: Central Connecticut 3, Bowling Green 4 (8 inn.)
Records: CCSU (1-1), BGU (4-3)
Location: Tenn State Tiger Classic - Nashville, Tenn.
KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU got on the board in the third inning after senior Sarah Ogilvie was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a sacrifice and a fly out. Sophomore Rian Eigenmann singled to score Ogilvie and make it 2-1.
- After Bowling Green added a run in the bottom of the third, CCSU would tie the game in the fifth. Freshman Meg Gorman hit a two-out double to score senior Giuliana Hathaway to make it 3-2. Eigenmann followed with a double of her own to drive in her second run of the day and tie the game.
- CCSU was unable to take advantage of a one-out double in the top of the eighth. Bowling Green scored the winning run on a one-out single in the bottom of the inning to win 4-3.
- Eigenmann finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Gorman went 1-for-3 with a run and RBI.
- Junior Meg Dugas took the loss, allowing three earned runs in 7.1 innings of work. She was also 1-of-4 at the plate with a double.
GAME TWO

KEY MOMENTS
- The Tigers scored two runs in each of the first two innings and added a run in the fourth to build a five-run lead.
- Central got a run back in the top of the fifth. Junior Meg Dugas hit a one-out double and moved to third on a wild pitch. Senior Kaitlin Paterson hit a double to drive in Dugas to make it 5-1.
- TSU tacked on two runs in the sixth for the final score.
- Sophomore Kari Marks took the loss in the circle and was charged with four runs in 1.2 innings. Junior Ashley Antonazzo allowed two earned runs in 4.1 innings and had six strikeouts.
- Paterson and senior Alicia Bertolino each went 2-of-3.
