CCSU Falls at Providence 8-6 on Tuesday
The Blue Devils will face Bryant on Sunday in Smithfield, RI for an NEC make-up doubleheader.
The Central Connecticut softball team fell at Providence College on Tuesday afternoon 8-6 to the Friars at Glay Field. The Blue Devils fired off 11 hits in the game and were led by senior Brittany Camara who went 3-for-4 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI.
CCSU falls to 18-27 and Providence improves to 13-29 on the season.
Senior Brittany McNulla put CCSU on the board with an RBI in the top of the first inning. PC answered in the bottom of the inning with a three-run homer and an RBI-double to take a 4-1 lead.
Central Connecticut knotted the score at 4-4 in the top of the second inning. In the stretch, Camara and Paterson notched RBI-singles.
Providence put together a four-run fourth inning to give them an 8-4 edge over Central.
CCSU made one final push in the top of the sixth inning, when freshman Sydney Bolan went yard to scored Paterson and cut the Friars lead to 8-6.
Sophomore pitcher Peyton Silverman threw the first four innings for CCSU and struck out six batters. The sophomore was credited with the loss, falling to 7-9 on the year. Senior Emily Sargent closed out the contest.
Central Connecticut will head back to Rhode Island on Sunday, May 6 to face Bryant in a Northeast Conference make-up doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
