Softball Dominates Siena 6-1 on Day Two of the Felsberg Invitational
CCSU will play Michigan State next at 1:30 p.m.
The Central Connecticut softball team downed Siena 6-1 on Saturday morning at the FIU Felsberg Invitational in Miami, FL. The Blue Devils allowed the Saints to earn just one run on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth inning. Central used three pitchers in the game and rookie Ashley Antonazzo earned her second straight win (2-0) going three innings in the circle.
The Blue Devils out-hit the Saints 10-8 in game and were led by senior Kerri Dadalski and junior Kaitlin Paterson who both went 2-for-3 at the plate. Paterson racked in two RBI and Dadalski hit her first double of the season.
With the loss, Siena (0-3) remains winless this year.
Central got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after capitalizing on one of Siena's three errors in the game. Paterson and senior Tori Constantin would both rip singles to the outfield in the fourth inning to give the Blue Devils a 3-0 edge.
Unfazed by the Saint's cutting the lead to 3-1, CCSU would score twice more in the bottom of the fifth inning. Siena's Brooke Hughes pitches all six innings and was responsible for all three of the Saint's errors in the game.
The speedy sophomore Emily Cronin stole home in the bottom of the sixth inning to score the last run for CCSU and put an exclamation point on the match
The CCSU softball team will next play Michigan State at 1:30 p.m.
