Softball Tops La Salle, Falls to South Dakota State In Extra Innings, Saturday
Softball plays again Sunday at 9 a.m. against Butler, and at 6:15 p.m.
The Central Connecticut softball team topped La Salle, 3-0, and fell to South Dakota State, 8-5, in eighth innings on Saturday, March 11. Junior Emily Sargent recorded her first shutout of the season, only allowing one hit from La Salle through seven innings. CCSU tallied seven hits, including a triple from junior Alexis Debrosse, and a double to left center from junior Brittany McNulla, in the first inning against La Salle.
The Blue Devils combined for seven hits against South Dakota. McNulla racked in four RBI's on two hits, including a two-run homer in the eighth inning, that scored sophomore Kerri Dadalski, who was placed at second due to the extra inning rule.
CCSU heads into its final two game at the USF on Sunday with a record of 2-8. South Dakota State improved to 12-13, and La Salle fell to 9-7 on the season.
After being tied at 3-3, South Dakota State rallied for four runs in the eighth inning to seal the victory. Junior Tori Constantin delivered two RBI doubles to left field in both of the Blue Devils' games. Sargent moves her record to 2-5 on the year.
The Central Connecticut softball team will resume play on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. against the Butler Bulldogs, and at 6:15 p.m. against tournament host South Florida.
