Gleason Announced to UNH Hall of Fame Class of 2016
Head softball coach Breanne Gleason was announced to the UNH Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2016 on Tuesday afternoon.
The University of New Haven announced that Central Connecticut head softball coach Breanne Gleason will be inducted into the UNH Athletics Hall of Fame in a release on Tuesday afternoon. Gleason is one of six former Chargers in the induction class of 2016 that will be enshrined at the 33rd annual UNH Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, Apr. 15 at Anthony's Ocean View in New Haven, CT at 6 p.m.
Gleason, who played for New Haven from 2007-10 and is their most decorated softball student-athlete, helped lead the Chargers to three NCAA appearances including a run to the NCAA Division II Super Regionals her senior year in 2010. She finished her playing career as the all-time leader in at bats (629), doubles (48), pitching appearances (171), strikeouts (1,098), wins (106) and innings pitched (1,019.2). Highlighting her career is a pair of Third Team All-America Selections (2009, 2010) and a Northeast-10 Pitcher and Player of the Year award in 2010.
Following her playing career she spent two season as an assistant coach on the New Haven coaching staff before coming to Central Connecticut in 2013. She was an assistant for the Blue Devils in 2013 and then took over as the acting head coach for the past two seasons. In her three years on the staff at CCSU she has helped the Blue Devils win a pair of Northeast Conference Championships, including their first in program history in 2013.
