Softball Takes Doubleheader at Bryant
Central Connecticut took two games at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI to improve to 13-20 on the season and 4-4 in the Northeast Conference while #$%^Bryant falls to 3-26 on the season and 0-8 in the Northeast Conference. Central Connecticut was led by senior Jaclyn Logan who was six for nine on #$%^the afternoon from the plate with seven RBI and a double for the Blue Devils and junior Elizabeth Montemurro pitched nine innings in a start and a relief #$%^appearance and won both games on the afternoon for the Blue Devils. Montemurro was able to strikeout seven and did not walk a batter in her game #$%^one start.

In game one of the doubleheader Central Connecticut opened tallied a run on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning. Scoring sophomore Rebecca Mussatti who advanced home on a wild pitch after reaching base on a single to center field. The Bulldogs answered back in the bottom of the first inning for a run on an RBI single by senior Ashley Coon.
Central Connecticut sent nine batters to the plate in the top of the second inning to score four runs and increase the Blue Devil lead to 5-1. In the top of the third inning Central Connecticut batted 13 Blue Devils in the top of the third and scored nine runs capped by a three RBI double by sophomore Sara Vlahos for her second hit of the inning.
The Bulldogs would score their second run on the game on a solo home run by freshman Christina Eringis to finish the game with two runs on six hits and two errors in the loss to Central who had 14 runs on 16 hits and no errors.
In game two the Blue Devils would need nine innings to defeat Bryant. Central Connecticut opened the game with two runs in the top of the first inning scoring two runs on Logan's two RBI double scoring sophomore Rebecca Mussatti and junior Katherine Knowles who both reached base on singles.
The Bulldogs were able to send the game into extra innings when they tied the score at eight in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two RBI double by Eringis. The Blue Devils were able to score two runs in the top of the ninth inning on a two RBI single to left field by Mussatti scoring Vlahos who and Senior Tiffany Erickson. The Blue Devils finished the game with 10 runs on 16 hits and no errors to defeat Bryant with eight runs on 11 hits and three errors.
Central Connecticut will return to action Wednesday, April 14 for a single game at 4:00 p.m. in New Britain.
