Men's Cross Country Takes Four All-NEC Selections, Four All-Rookie
Men's Cross country snagged four spots on the 2022 All-Northeast Conference team Friday. The Blue Devils also had four freshman named to the All-Rookie team.
Men's Cross country snagged four spots on the 2022 All-Northeast Conference team Friday. The Blue Devils also had four freshman named to the All-Rookie team.
The All-Conference teams are made up of the first 14 runners to cross the finish line at the NEC Championship and All-Rookie teams are comprised of the top seven rookie finishers. The Blue Devils had four finishers in the top 14, including James Sullivan in the top five. The Blue Devils finished second with a final score of 45.
The All-NEC team is comprised of James Sullivan (fourth place - 25:05.5), Jake Ireland (seventh place – 25:23.1), Tim Lautenbach (eighth place – 25:26.4), and Yankarlos Diaz (ninth place – 25:27.9).
CCSU had four of the top seven rookies to cross the finish line, earning All-Rookie honors. The All-Rookie team includes Mark Rodriguez (17th – 26:05.3), Salvatore Masciarelli (20th- 26:15.3), Lane Maher (21st - 26:16.1), and Israel Caro IV (27th – 26:36.4).
The men's side won two races this year (the Father Bede Invitational and the Ted Owen Invitational). They finished second at the CCSU Mini meet and fourth at New England Championships.
CCSU has had four Athlete of the Week honors this season (Sullivan 3x, Diaz 1x) and two Rookie of the Week selections (Masciarelli 1x, Rodriguez 1x).
