Central Finishes Fifth in Mini Meet
CCSU seeks 10th straight NEC title next weekend.
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team recorded a fifth place finish at its own 16th Annual Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils finished with a total of 147 points out of a 12 team field. Central was led by junior Roberto Piotto who completed the 5K home course in an electric 14:59.3 in fifth place overall.
Next in for Central was junior Richard Grudzwick who paced the field the beginning of the run only to finish 15th with a time of 15:17.2. Sophmore Charlie Taubl tailed Grudzwick in 27th place after clocking in at 15:30.5.
Freshman Moroni Lima and junior Julio Arredondo finished side by side recording times of 16:16.0 and 16:19.0, respectively.
The last two Blue Devils had strong finishes with freshman Tim McNamara coming in at 16:26.4 and senior Patrick Halloran finishing with a time of 16:58.0.
Providence College won the meet with 29 points and Leakey Kipkosgei from American International won the individual meet with a time of 14:37.2.
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team will seek its 10th straight NEC title next weekend at Bryant University for the 2018 Northeast Conference Championships beginning at 11 a.m.
