Blue Devils Place 12th at New England Championships Saturday
Men's cross country finished 12th with a score of 274 at the New England Championships
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team finished 12th with a score of 274 out of a field of 26 schools competing at the 106th Annual New England Cross Country Championships and the 15th men's and women's combined New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championship held at Franklin Park in Boston, MA on Saturday, Oct. 6.
Two Blue Devils, junior Roberto Piotto and senior Alex Norstrom pace the CCSU cross country crew finishing in 5th and 12th place respectively. Piotto turned in a career best time of 25:05.3 and Norstrom completed the 8K course in 25:20.9. Central Connecticut averaged a course time of 26:08 on Saturday afternoon.
Following the duo was sophomore Charlie Taubl in 42nd place who came in at 25:53.1. Junior Richard Grudzwick had a solid showing finishing in 73rd place with a time of 26:22.0.
Rookie Timothy McNamara was next in for Central at the 27:59.7 mark, good for 142nd placing. Senior Patrick Halloran finished in a time of 28:47.1 coming in 160th place.
Rounding out the Blue Devil runners on a successful showing against some of New England's top competition was freshman David Kerns who ended at 29:42.3 in 168th place. UMass Amherst won the 2018 NEICAA Championship with a total score of 84.
The men's cross country team will host the CCSU Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 19 at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT.
