8th Annual Ray Crothers Memorial 5K Run to be Held Saturday
Run to be followed by the Ted Owen Invitational.
The CCSU Alumni Cross Country, Track and Field Club and CCSU Athletics Department are hosting the 8th Annual Ray Crothers Memorial 5K Cross Country Race and Kids Mile Fun Run on Saturday, September 24, at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The 5K race is in honor of legendary Blue Devil runner, Ray Crothers, and all of his accomplishments and dedication to CCSU. Proceeds from the race will also directly benefit the Blue Devils men's and women's cross country/track and field programs under the direction of head coach Eric Blake.
RAY CROTHERS 5K/KIDS FUN RUN REGISTRATION
The Kids Mile Fun Run is schedule to start at 8:30 a.m. and is free of charge to kids ages 12 and under. The Ray Crothers 5K Cross Country Race is slated for a 9:00 a.m. start and is $20 per participant. Runners can either register online at www.fasttracktiming.com or fill out the attached sign-up form and bring it on race day. Pre-race registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. for both races. Make checks payable to CCSU.
The Ray Crothers Race is also a USATF/CT 2016 Cross Country Grand Prix sanctioned event and MRR qualifier. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 runners to sign-up online, a hospitality tent will be available for all participants and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age bracket.
Participants are also encouraged to stick around after the race and cheer on the CCSU men's and women's cross country teams in the Ted Owen Invitational. The women's 5K race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the men's 8K race at 11:45 a.m.
