Hunt Qualifies for NCAA DI Championships
Hunt placed 25th overall at the NCAA Northeast Regionals this past weekend.
Senior Craig Hunt of the Central Connecticut men's cross country team has qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, the NCAA announced Saturday. He will compete among the Nation's top runners on Nov. 23.
Hunt, who completed the 10K NCAA Northeast Regional competition in 25th place overall with his time of 30:46.70, is the only Blue Devil selected to participate in the NCAA Championships.
In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals qualified in their respective NCAA regional competitions.
Thirty-eight individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. All individual qualifiers finished in the top 25 in their region.
Hunt earns the distinction after also earning an NEC Individual title at the 2013 NEC Cross Country Championships in which he led the Blue Devils to their fifth-straight conference title.
The 2013 NCAA Division I Championships will be hosted by Indiana State on Nov. 23, at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, IN. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
